White Oak Golf & Equestrian Community in Tryon, North Carolina is an active adult retirement community for the over 55’s. At its center is a Village Square with fine dining and banquet facilities; gardens, a market, the mail/news center and an art gallery featuring local and European art. A future phase will create an “aging in place” assisted living option.

White Oak Golf & Equestrian Community has a dizzying array of activity options. The Arnold Palmer Design Golf Course is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2008, but not later than January 2009. Other amenities include a stargazing observatory, private equine facilities and trails, a wellness center, vineyard, clubhouse, garden space, swimming pools and tennis courts.

White Oak uses sustainable building and landscaping principles extensively, and builders are expected to do the same. 85 home sites have been listed, ranging from 0.5 to 1.4 acres at a price of $175,000 to $500,000. With a 2,000 square foot minimum size, expect to pay $750,000 to over a million dollars for your custom built home. Golf villas and townhouses are still in the design stage.

Nearby, Tryon, Columbus and Saluda boast plenty of shops, galleries and restaurants for all to enjoy. Tryon hosts the exciting annual Block House Steeplechase Event, and Saluda’s Main Street is on the National Register of Historic Places.
